“the distraction will take its toll on you”

some things we watch

are only to throw away

distraction from all

that is meant to stay

years pass by

and we realize our mistakes

of the things we should have cherished

but never did, they can’t be replaced

to feel so hollow inside

an aching one can’t describe

can’t acknowledge the pain

allowing it to lay deep inside

it will eventually come to life

for all to see

the hurt in your eyes

the sorrow in your voice

is enough to sing the song

of all you have lost

it’s not about what you are to them

but what you are to yourself

for they did not lend a hand or give you any help

when it comes down to it

it is about who you are

because you may struggle to touch the sky

but you can never eternally hold that star
