“(a little girl) lost”

dedicated to the memory of christabel garcia 1978-1997

i wish i felt nothing at all

a turn en route to prevent the oncoming fall

eyes lost in the ever-growing crowd

why couldn’t you just cry out loud?

a slight twist of fate

one moment too late

never to see you again

lost without a friend

(a day gone is another day forgotten)

holding back the obvious “surprise”

i could see the guilt build up in your eyes

how do you feel now that it’s ended?

do you wish you never pretended?

a quick drop in the night

once here, now out of sight

a person left alone

will she (ever) find her home?

(a life gone never to be forgotten)

i wish i could’ve been there for you

to help you cope, to help you get through

a quick turn in another direction

a little girl lost looking for affection
